Patch WoW Forever

Overview

Zephras Isle is the level 1-12 starting zone for the new Skyborne race — a floating island anchored in the elemental plane of Skywall, reached only through character creation. Beta quest data is still changing, so this guide doesn’t recommend an optimized speed leveling route yet. Instead, it covers the confirmed hubs, factions, and locations that make up the zone right now.

The Skyborne Heroic Pack unlocks the race and zone for launch. Guaranteed beta access specifically requires the Skyborne Epic Pack or Warcraft Forever Collection — Heroic alone doesn’t get you into beta, even though it does grant access once Forever launches. See our full Skyborne & Beta Access guide for the full pricing breakdown

GOOD TO KNOW

Step 6 isn’t one quest — every class gets its own thematically named version. Fittingly, there are exactly six variants, matching the six classes Skyborne can actually play — no Priest, Paladin, or Warlock version exists, since Skyborne can’t be those classes at all.

High Order vs. Windshapers

Group Alignment Exclusive Class Shared Classes
Windshapers Horde Shaman Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Druid
High Order Alliance Mage Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, Druid

The Windshapers are the Skyborne’s shamanistic spiritual leaders, siding with the Horde. The High Order descend from Highborne magisters and see the crisis as a chance at independence, siding with the Alliance. Both sides share Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, and Druid, with Skyborne Druids getting race exclusive shapeshift forms.

The Al’Aketh Threat

Al’Aketh isn’t a third playable option — it’s a hostile cult devoted to Al’Akir the Windlord, and one you actively fight rather than align with. As the wind spirits that once protected the island vanished, the Al’Aketh used the resulting crisis to seize control of a real portion of Zephras Isle. Expect quest content built around pushing back against them while earning standing with whichever of the two actual playable factions you’ve chosen.

GOOD TO KNOW

Their leader is High Priestess Lorthuna — a Skyborne version of a character otherwise known from a much later era of Warcraft’s story, repurposed here as the Al’Aketh’s cult leader.

Notable Locations

Valanaar serves as the Skyborne’s racial capital, alongside its role as a later game hub within the zone itself. The Shrine of Akir and Nightclaw Cavern both carry real narrative weight tied to the island’s elemental crisis, while Shadowgale Forest and Gustberry Lowlands round out the island’s outdoor exploration space.

Leaving Zephras Isle

Zephras Isle hands off into your faction’s normal 10-20 zones once you finish it.

Tips & Tricks

Decide on Horde or Alliance before you create your character. Windshapers and High Order lock you into your faction’s exclusive caster, so there’s no trying both on one character.

Treat Al’Aketh encounters as your zone’s core conflict, not a side threat. They’re the antagonist force driving most of the island’s story right now.

Spend Legacy Points before rolling your Skyborne, if you have any banked. Well Rested and Talented both directly smooth out an early leveling stretch like this one — see our full Legacy System guide for the complete breakdown.

Don’t treat any specific quest count or subzone number as final this early in beta. The overall shape is well-corroborated, but exact figures are still moving.
