Legacy is Forever’s new account-wide progression system, built specifically for players who enjoy leveling alts. You earn Legacy Points by completing everyday challenges across six categories, then spend them in per-character talent trees for meaningful, mostly non-power bonuses.

Where This Came From
According to Associate Production Director Clay Stone, the idea grew directly out of watching Hardcore mode make Azeroth feel busy and alive with people constantly leveling new characters. Legacy tries to capture that same energy without Hardcore’s permadeath risk. As Stone put it, “we know that there are some players who just love the Classic leveling journey.”
How You Earn Legacy Points
Most Legacy Challenges are things you’d naturally do anyway — leveling, gathering, running dungeons. Blizzard has been clear this isn’t meant to feel like a separate grind on top of normal play.
Spending Legacy Points
Points are earned account-wide but spent per character, across three Legacy Trees: Adventure, Tradeskills, and Resourcefulness. Confirmed example talents include Well Rested (Adventure — increases rested experience gains and raises the rested experience cap), Bountiful Harvest (Tradeskills — increases gathering yields from mining, herbalism, or skinning), and For Great Honor (Resourcefulness — +2% Honor per rank).
Blizzard deliberately capped spendable points below the full obtainable pool so players aren’t pressured into leveling alts they don’t actually want, just to unlock talent points.
Legacy and Hardcore
Legacy Points and progress carry across the Normal, PvP, and RP rulesets — but not symmetrically with Hardcore. Progress earned in Hardcore can flow into other rulesets, but progress from other rulesets does not flow back into Hardcore.
Tips & Tricks
Don’t expect Legacy to feel like a second job. Most challenges track things you’d be doing anyway while leveling normally.
Think about which tree fits each character, not your account as a whole. Since trees are spent per character, an alt built for exploring might invest very differently than one built for raiding.
If you play Hardcore, know your progress travels one direction only. Anything earned there benefits your other characters, but not the reverse.
