Patch WoW Forever

Overview

Druid remains Classic’s most versatile class, able to fill any role with the right gear and talents, and Forever makes shapeshifting far less restrictive. Potions, weapon enchants and procs, and most objects now work without breaking your form, Nature’s Grasp and Omen of Clarity become baseline, Revive adds an out-of-combat resurrection at level 12, and Lacerate joins the Feral kit at level 42. Tiger’s Fury is removed in favor of a new Cat Form talent called Shifting Power, and Berserk and Wild Growth arrive as new 31-point talents.

What Changed From Classic

Change Details
Shapeshifting Potions and almost all similar consumables, weapon enchants and procs, and most doors and objects now work without cancelling your form. Racial abilities are usable while shapeshifted, and every form is immune to Disarm
Weapon scaling Your auto-attack DPS in your animal forms now matches your equipped weapon’s DPS, at a fixed swing speed per form. Abilities that deal weapon damage use the same values
Nature’s Grasp and Omen of Clarity Now baseline for every Druid, learned at levels 10 and 20
Revive A new out-of-combat resurrection spell, learned at level 12
Lacerate A new baseline bear bleed, learned at level 42
Tiger’s Fury Removed. Feral Combat gets Shifting Power instead, a Cat Form talent that converts Mana into Energy
Gold-medal talents A new 16-point tier: Insect Swarm in Balance, Shifting Power and Primal Bite in Feral Combat, and Swiftmend in Restoration
Raid-wide auras The spell critical strike aura from Moonkin Form and the melee and ranged critical strike aura from Leader of the Pack now cover the whole raid

Talent Trees

Structure stays Classic-minded: three trees and 51 points at level 60, with one-point gold milestone talents at 11, 21, and 31 points and a new one at 16. Nature’s Grasp and Omen of Clarity are no longer talents, since every Druid now learns them from the trainer. Each tree is covered below.

Balance Druid Talents

Balance gains new tools for sustaining damage over time and shaping its spell rotation. Insect Swarm moves here from Restoration as the 16-point talent, Nature’s Splendor lengthens your damage-over-time and healing-over-time effects, and Eclipse rewards alternating Wrath and Starfire. Moonkin Form now lets you cast every non-healing spell.

Talent What Changed
Genesis (new) Increases the periodic damage and healing done by your spells and abilities
Nature’s Majesty (new) Increases your critical strike chance with spells and melee attacks
Nature’s Splendor (new, 11-point) Requires Nature’s Majesty. Increases the duration of Moonfire, Rejuvenation, Regrowth, and Insect Swarm
Insect Swarm (moved, 16-point) A damage-over-time spell that also lowers the target’s chance to hit. It moved here from Restoration to become Balance’s 16-point talent
Overgrowth (new) Lets you keep up to 3 targets affected by Entangling Roots at once
Eclipse (new) Casting Wrath reduces the cast time of your next 2 Starfire casts, stacking up to 4 charges
Nature’s Grace (redesigned) Now lasts 3 seconds and grants spellcasting haste and a shorter global cooldown
Moonkin Form (reworked) Its spell critical strike aura now covers the whole raid, you can cast all non-healing spells in it, and Omen of Clarity triggers twice as often

Feral Combat Druid Talents

Feral Combat gets its most distinctive changes in Forever. Shifting Power and Primal Bite share a new 16-point row, one for Cat Form and one for Bear Form, and Berserk caps the tree at 31 points. Tiger’s Fury is gone, and Leader of the Pack‘s critical strike aura now covers the whole raid.

Talent What Changed
Shifting Power (new, 16-point) A Cat Form ability that instantly converts 55% of your base Mana into 40 Energy on a 16-second cooldown. It replaces Tiger’s Fury, and it can’t be used at full Energy
Primal Bite (new, 16-point) A Bear Form attack that costs 20 Rage, deals 100% weapon damage plus a bonus, and generates very high threat
Improved Shifting Power (new) Reduces Shifting Power‘s cooldown by up to 8 seconds
Feral Charge (11-point) Now also has a Cat Form version with a 30-second cooldown that doesn’t interrupt or immobilize the target
Leader of the Pack (21-point) Its melee and ranged critical strike aura now covers the whole raid
Thick Hide (redesigned) Now grants Armor in your animal forms based on Defense skill from buffs and items, so Defense gear helps Druid tanks
Natural Reaction (new) Increases your dodge chance and gives you a chance to gain 5 Rage each time you dodge
Rend and Tear (new) Increases the damage of your melee abilities against Bleeding targets
Berserk (new, 31-point) A 15-second ability on a 3-minute cooldown, usable in any animal form. It clears and grants immunity to Fear, removes Primal Bite‘s cooldown and makes it hit up to 3 targets, and raises the critical strike chance of your combo point abilities by 100%

Restoration Druid Talents

Restoration keeps the Druid’s heal-over-time identity and gains Wild Growth at 31 points. Swiftmend moves much earlier in the tree as the 16-point talent and no longer consumes your heal-over-time effect, and Gift of the Earthmother speeds up your key heals.

Talent What Changed
Wild Growth (new, 31-point) Requires Living Spirit. Heals the target and everyone in their party, pets included, over 7 seconds, starting strong and tapering each second. 6-second cooldown and a high Mana cost
Swiftmend (moved, 16-point) Now the 16-point talent instead of a 31-point capstone, and it no longer consumes the Rejuvenation or Regrowth effect on the target
Gift of the Earthmother (new, 11-point) Reduces the global cooldown of Rejuvenation, Swiftmend, and Wild Growth by 0.5 seconds
Living Spirit (new) Increases your Spirit by up to 15%
Furor (redesigned) Shifting into Cat Form now restores a percentage of the Energy you had when you last left it, instead of a flat 40
Naturalist (renamed) Now also increases all damage you deal by up to 5%

New and Changed Abilities

These are the new and changed baseline abilities every Druid gets, regardless of talents.

Ability Level What Changed
Nature’s Grasp 10 Now baseline for every Druid instead of a Balance talent, and castable while shapeshifted and indoors
Revive 12 New. An out-of-combat resurrection spell
Omen of Clarity 20 Now baseline for every Druid instead of a talent. Its Clearcasting effect is never consumed by Wrath
Shred 20 Rank 1 is now learned at level 20 instead of 22, and its damage was increased so it needs less talent support
Lacerate 42 New. A baseline bear ability that applies a bleed over 15 seconds, stacking up to 5 times, and deals 10% weapon damage per existing stack. Generates high threat
Faerie Fire Existing Castable in your animal forms for no resource cost on a 6-second cooldown, and now generates threat in the bear forms
Wrath Existing Redesigned with a much cheaper Mana cost

Race Options

Druid stays open to Night Elf on the Alliance side and Tauren on the Horde side. The new Skyborne race also plays Druid on both factions, with raceexclusive shapeshift forms: High Order Skyborne on the Alliance and Windshaper Skyborne on the Horde. Racial abilities now work while shapeshifted, so your race’s active abilities no longer cost you your form.

Tips & Tricks

Stay in form for potions, weapon enchants, and objects. Potions, almost all similar consumables, weapon enchants and procs, and most doors and objects no longer cancel your shapeshift, so you can hold an animal form through an entire pull.

Use Shifting Power as your Energy reset. It converts 55% of your base Mana into 40 Energy on a 16-second cooldown, and it can’t be used while you’re already at full Energy.

Don’t plan on bear-weaving. Bear Form stops Energy regeneration, so refill Energy in Cat Form with Shifting Power instead of swapping forms.

Gear for Defense as a bear tank. Thick Hide now turns Defense skill from your buffs and items into extra Armor in your forms, so Defense gear helps Druid tanks the way it helps other tanks.

Bring both critical strike auras to a raid. Moonkin Form covers spell critical strike and Leader of the Pack covers melee and ranged critical strike, and both now reach the whole raid, so a Balance and a Feral Druid no longer overlap.

Aim Wild Growth at the party that needs it. It heals the target’s whole party, pets included, over 7 seconds, with a 6-second cooldown and a high Mana cost.
