Patch WoW Forever

Overview

Ruins of Lordaeron is a new level 15-20 dungeon set in the shattered surface ruins above the Undercity, where the Forsaken push back against lingering Scourge forces and a necromancer who’s moved into the ruined city. It’s one of nine new dungeons launching with World of Warcraft: Forever.

GOOD TO KNOW

This guide is based on WoW Forever’s beta, currently live ahead of the November 4 launch. Names, mechanics, and drops may still change before release — we’ll update this page if anything shifts.

Boss Quick Reference

Boss Key Mechanic Priority
Witherfang Patrols the long entrance hallway on a wide route Watch for her wandering into your pull rather than staying put
The Baron Standard fight; drops a distinct weapon and armor set Straightforward compared to the rest of the dungeon
The Abandoned Must be summoned by approaching a statue in the southwest corner, triggering 3 waves before the boss appears Clear the waves fully before the boss itself engages
Bjork A giant undead Troll; slow but hard-hitting melee, occasional knockback Tank should watch positioning to avoid being knocked out of place
Rath’mael Final boss; a mage who spams Flamestrike and pulses AoE damage around himself Interrupt or stun Flamestrike every time; melee can’t fully avoid the pulsing AoE
Viktor the Vile (optional, secret) Requires solving an environmental soul-flame puzzle to summon Skip freely if your group isn’t interested in the extra fight

Critical Mechanics

Witherfang’s patrol route is truly long

She isn’t standing still waiting for you — plan your pulls through the entrance hallway with her wandering path in mind, or you can end up fighting her earlier than expected.

The Abandoned won’t appear until you trigger the statue

Walking up to it starts three waves of enemies first — clear each wave fully before the boss itself joins the fight.

Rath’mael’s Flamestrike is a hard interrupt priority

Between that and his constant pulsing AoE, melee characters should expect to take steady damage throughout this fight regardless of positioning.

Notable Loot

GOOD TO KNOW

Full loot tables for the other bosses haven’t stabilized in beta reporting yet — we’ll expand this table as more drops are confirmed.

Quests

Quest Level Pickup Objective
Light’s Justice 15 Morbin Lightbane, Royal Quarter, Undercity Completed inside the dungeon
The New Plague 16 Theodore Griffs, the Apothecarium, Undercity Completed inside the dungeon
Abominable Creatures (Alliance) 21 Captain Truman Collect the Head of the Baron and return it
Unending Torment (Horde) — Use the Abominable Head inside Undercity Deliver the head within the city
A Frightened Request 22 Tabitha Heartweaver, The Sepulcher, Silverpine Investigate a disappearance tied to the dungeon
The Wrath of Rath’mael 22 Deathguard Kristof, southeast of Brill Kill Rath’mael; choose Forsaken Greataxe or Gnarled Necromancer’s Staff

There’s also a secret room near the Baron’s fight containing Crest of Lordaeron — a shield pickup quest

Tips & Tricks

Watch Witherfang’s patrol before committing to a pull elsewhere. Her route through the entrance hallway is long enough that she can wander into an unrelated fight if you’re not paying attention.

Bring disease and poison cleansing if your class has it. With heavy Undead and Beast enemy density throughout, Priests, Paladins, Shaman, and Druids all have real utility here.

Decide on Viktor the Vile before you reach the southwest section. It’s a real detour to solve the summoning puzzle — worth agreeing on as a group rather than debating mid-run.

Pick up the Undercity and Brill-area quests before you head in. Several objectives complete inside the dungeon itself, so grabbing them first saves a return trip.
