Overview

Razorfen Kraul is a level 30-40 dungeon in the southern Barrens, a quillboar stronghold just before the Great Lift down to Thousand Needles. Like its sister dungeon Razorfen Downs, it’s full of quillboar, and several of its caster trash mobs can root, stun or freeze your group.

The dungeon has eight bosses, one of them optional and one a rare spawn, plus quests for both factions. The final boss, Charlga Razorflank, is the target of quests for both factions, and her reward choice includes some useful rare items for leveling.

Location and Level Range

The entrance is in the far south of the Barrens. Travel to the southern part of the zone and head west before you reach The Great Lift. Horde players can get there easily. Alliance players usually take the boat from Booty Bay to Ratchet and run south from there.

Enemies inside cover roughly levels 30-40.

Earthcaller Halmgar Summons an Earth Rumbler, drops an Earthbind Totem and casts Lightning Bolt Banish the elemental and kill Halmgar, or clear the platform, kill the totems and burst the elemental first
Charlga Razorflank Final boss. A caster with low armor who casts Chain Bolt and Renew, and every so often goes immune to all abilities Pull her down from her hut onto the platform below, interrupt her casts, and spread out

Critical Mechanics

Kill the Earthgrab Totems first. Razorfen Totemics drop an Earthgrab Totem that lasts 30 seconds and keeps rooting anyone nearby. Being rooted in the wrong spot can pull another pack, so kill the totem before anything else in the group.

Pull Razorfen Dustweavers one at a time. Their Enveloping Winds stuns a target for 10 seconds. If it lands on the healer, the tank shouldn’t be holding several mobs, so keep pulls small and have hybrids ready to heal.

Watch for Death’s Head Adepts. They cast Chains of Ice and go down quickly, but they’re dangerous if they catch the group off guard. Pull one at a time, away from other packs and patrols.

Crowd control wins the two hardest fights. Death Speaker Jargba and Overlord Ramtusk both come with dangerous adds. Bring at least one, ideally two, forms of crowd control.

The Alliance chain starts with Lonebrow’s Journal, which you loot from a dead dwarf at the bottom of the Great Lift in Thousand Needles. Warriors also have a class step here: Roogug drops the Vial of Phlogiston needed for Brutal Armor (Horde) and Fire Hardened Mail (Alliance).

Tips & Tricks

Pick up the Blueleaf Tubers items in Ratchet. The Crate With Holes, Snufflenose Owner’s Manual and Snufflenose Command Stick are next to Mebok outside the general store.

Save the Willix escort for the end. It’s best done once the dungeon is cleared, and his path passes plenty of Blueleaf Tubers.

Keep the totems down. Earthgrab and Earthbind Totems turn easy pulls into messy ones. Kill them first.

Banish the elementals. Roogug and Earthcaller Halmgar both summon an Earth Rumbler. A Warlock’s Banish takes it out of the fight.
