Every class is getting reworked talent trees in World of Warcraft: Forever, but so far only Paladin has received real, specific detail from Blizzard. Universal changes include a new talent milestone and several old must-have talents becoming baseline. This page covers what’s actually confirmed, class by class, and gets updated as more is revealed.

For the full announcement roundup, see our WoW Classic Plus / Forever hub.

Universal Changes, Confirmed for All Classes

Change Details
Talent milestones Still at 11, 21, and 31 points, joined by a new 16-point milestone
Baseline buffs Talents that granted key class buffs — Divine Spirit, Blessing of Kings, Improved Mark of the Wild — are now automatic, not talent-dependent
Design philosophy Fewer small stat-percentage talents, more talents meant to change how an ability actually works
TIP

Lead Software Engineer Nora Mills framed the approach by pointing back to the 2005-2006 redesigns of Priest, Mage, Hunter, and Druid — those changes weren’t about making every class equally good at everything, but about making each one feel distinct. Forever follows the same philosophy.

Racial Abilities Are Also Being Reworked

Every race now gets exactly two active abilities and two passive abilities, tuned to offer similar offensive value while keeping each race’s signature utility intact. Undead is one confirmed example: Will of the Forsaken still removes Charm, Fear, and Sleep, but no longer grants immunity to them — and Cannibalize now restores Mana in addition to Health, making it truly useful for mana-based classes like Mages, Warlocks, Paladins, and Priests.

The One Class With Real Detail: Paladin

Paladin was the specific example Blizzard used on stage to demonstrate the whole class update philosophy, and it’s the only class with confirmed specifics so far.

Spec Confirmed Change
Protection A new Seal built specifically to improve tanking
Holy New talents enabling some group-healing capability
Retribution Described as newly viable — “maybe now is your time to shine,” in Mills’ words
TIP

Undead Paladin — one of the six new race/class combinations — makes this rework especially relevant on the Horde side, which hasn’t had Paladin access before.

What About the Other Eight Classes?

Here’s the honest answer: not much yet. Blizzard has said all specs across all classes are being updated, but as of this page’s last update, Paladin remains the only class with specific, named changes confirmed directly by the development team.

Tips & Tricks

Use Wowhead’s talent calculator to start planning now. It’s a reasonably reliable working resource for the milestone structure and individually-confirmed talents, even ahead of beta — just don’t expect every listed talent to be final until Blizzard’s own data catches up.

Be more cautious of sites claiming complete, exact trees for all nine classes without explaining their sourcing. That’s a bigger claim than the evidence currently supports — even solid coverage has only confirmed Paladin in real detail.

Check back as beta approaches. With beta starting September 17, real class-by-class detail is likely to arrive soon — we’ll update this page and add dedicated class guides once there’s enough confirmed to write them properly
