Overview

Summoning Atal’alarion in Sunken Temple requires activating six serpent statues in one specific sequence. Get the order wrong, and the whole puzzle resets — no partial credit, no shortcuts.

GOOD TO KNOW

This puzzle lives in the Pit of Refuge, on the same level as the dungeon entrance — you don’t need to fight through the whole instance first to reach it.

Finding the Statue Room

Coming from the Basement, take the first passage on your right, then continue right again until you reach the Hall of Serpents. The six statues are arranged around this room, and a central statue sits in the middle of the pit itself.

NOTE

Activating the central statue first causes the six outer statues to light up one by one, visually showing your group the correct order. If your group loses track partway through, this lighting sequence is a real, built-in way to double check yourselves.

The Correct Order

Step Statue
1 South
2 North
3 Southwest
4 Southeast
5 Northwest
6 Northeast
NOTE

Getting a single statue wrong resets the entire sequence — you’ll need to start over from South again. Assign one person to call out each step clearly rather than letting multiple people click statues at once.

Once all six are activated correctly, Atal’alarion spawns in the center of the pit below.

Fighting Atal’alarion

Atal’alarion hits hard and has multiple stun effects. Keep your ranged DPS and healer at maximum range to avoid getting caught by his stuns repeatedly, and make sure your tank has steady healing support throughout.

If you haven’t cleared the area below the pit before completing the statue sequence, Atal’alarion will arrive with two additional adds. Neither is particularly dangerous, but it’s worth knowing in advance rather than being surprised mid fight!

Boss Notable Drops
Atal’alarion Darkwater Bracers, Atal’alarion’s Tusk Ring, Headspike

Tips & Tricks

Designate one caller for the sequence. With six steps and a full reset on any mistake, having one clear voice calling out each statue prevents confusion or double clicks.

Use the lighting hint if your group loses track. Activating the central statue shows the correct order visually — a good fallback if anyone’s unsure mid sequence.

Clear the pit below before finishing the sequence, if you can. Skipping this just means dealing with two extra adds once Atal’alarion spawns — not dangerous, but avoidable.

Don’t rush the ranged positioning once the fight starts. Atal’alarion’s stuns hit hard enough that staying at range really does change how manageable this fight feels.
