Sunken Temple Quests Guide (WoW Classic)

Overview

Sunken Temple has two faction quests for each side and a set of quests both factions share. Alliance players bring Atal’ai Tablets to Stormwind and Atal’ai Haze to Un’Goro Crater, while Horde players bring Fetishes of Hakkar to Stonard and Atal’ai Haze to Un’Goro. Everyone can do the Stone Circle chain from Marvon Rivetseeker, which includes the statue puzzle, plus Jammal’an the Prophet, The God Hakkar and The Essence of Eranikus.

Most of these quests start well outside the dungeon and have pre-quests, so the checklists below list where each one is picked up.

The Circle Chain

This chain is shared by both factions once you’re past the first step, and it’s the one that actually gates the statue puzzle.

2	The Stone Circle	Retrieve a Stone Circle from a chest in Ratchet, then return to Marvon Rivetseeker
3	Into the Depths	Head into the dungeon and reach the Altar of Hakkar
3 (parallel)	Secret of the Circle	Activate the six statues in the correct order — South, North, Southwest, Southeast, Northwest, Northeast — then click the Idol of Hakkar that appears

Secret of the Circle is the exact quest completed by the statue sequence covered in our Statue Order guide. You’ll receive both Into the Depths and Secret of the Circle at the same time from Marvon Rivetseeker, so pick up both before heading in.

After the Final Boss

Defeating the Shade of Eranikus drops the Essence of Eranikus. Carry it to the Essence Font in the same lair and use it there to properly complete the quest and put Eranikus to rest.

This is easy to miss if your group leaves immediately after the kill. The turn in location is right there in the same room, not somewhere you need to travel to.

Tips & Tricks

Pick up both Into the Depths and Secret of the Circle together. They’re handed out at the same time from the same NPC — no reason to grab one without the other.

Start The God Hakkar chain well before you plan to run the dungeon. It requires completing Screecher Spirits first, which isn’t a quick pickup.

Don’t forget the Essence of Eranikus turn in. It happens immediately in the same room as the kill, and skipping it means missing the objective entirely.

Treat the faction quests as a separate errand. The tablet and fetish quests have pre-quests in Stormwind and Stonard, and the haze quests route through Un’Goro Crater, Feralas and Ratchet before they send you into the dungeon.
