Overview

Nalpak and Ebru are two quest-givers tucked into a hidden alcove above the Wailing Caverns entrance, and most players never stumble onto them without knowing exactly where to look. Both quests they offer are worth the short detour.

This location isn’t on the way to anything else — you’re not going to pass through it during a normal dungeon run. Finding it requires a deliberate climb before you ever set foot inside the instance itself.

Nalpak and Ebru Location

Step Action
1 Head to the Wailing Caverns entrance, recognizable by its skull-shaped rock formation.
2 Climb the mountain directly behind the entrance — this is your starting point, not the alcove itself.
3 Work your way around the mountain until you’re facing the oasis below, on the far side from the entrance.
4 Drop down onto a hidden ledge — this leads into the alcove itself.
NOTE

This is a real fiddly jump, and it can take a few attempts to land in the right spot. If you miss, you’ll likely fall further down the mountainside — just climb back up and try again rather than assuming you’re in the wrong general area.

Once inside, you’ll find several Disciples of Naralex NPCs sharing the same alcove — Nalpak and Ebru are among them.

Deviate Hides

Deviate Hides is picked up from Nalpak. The objective is simple: collect 20 Deviate Hides from skinnable mobs inside the instance. If you have Skinning, this is close to a freebie alongside a normal clear.

Deviate Eradication

Deviate Eradication is picked up from Ebru. You’ll need to kill 7 each of Deviate Ravager, Deviate Viper, Deviate Shambler, and Deviate Dreadfang inside the instance — a real kill count, not a quick tally. Completing it rewards your choice of Pattern: Deviate Scale Belt, Sizzle Stick, or Dagmire Gauntlets.

Tips & Tricks

Pick up both quests before you head into the instance proper. Since the alcove isn’t on your normal path, grabbing both here first means you won’t need to backtrack out and climb back up mid run.

Bring Skinning if you have it. Deviate Hides becomes almost automatic if you’re already skinning mobs during a normal clear.

Don’t rush the jump into the alcove. A failed attempt just means climbing back up, but a careless one can send you tumbling further than expected.

Choose your Deviate Eradication reward based on your class, not habit. Pattern: Deviate Scale Belt, Sizzle Stick, and Dagmire Gauntlets serve different roles entirely — pick whichever actually fits your character.
