The overall amount of experience needed to reach level 60 in World of Warcraft: Forever stays the same as vanilla, but how you earn it is changing — dungeon quest rewards are going up significantly while XP from killing dungeon enemies is being reduced, specifically to discourage repetitive dungeon farming as a leveling strategy.

For the full announcement roundup, see our WoW Classic Plus / Forever hub.

The Dungeon XP Rework

According to a Blizzard developer speaking on stage, the change is deliberate — experience earned from simply killing monsters inside dungeons has been substantially cut. In its place, dungeon quest rewards are being significantly increased.

Change Details
Overall 1-60 XP curve Unchanged from vanilla
Dungeon enemy kill XP Significantly reduced
Dungeon quest XP Significantly increased
Exact percentages Not yet published
TIP

The practical effect: your first full clear of a dungeon should be truly rewarding, since most of that value now comes from the quests tied to it. Repeatedly farming the same dungeon afterward for kill XP alone is intended to be a worse use of your time than continuing to level through the open world instead.

What Else Is Confirmed

Change Details
Flying mounts None planned
Level scaling None — every zone keeps its own fixed difficulty
New quests Over 1,000 added across the 1-60 journey
TIP

No level scaling means where you level next is a real choice, not just a formality — a zone you outlevel stays outleveled, the same as it always worked in vanilla.

Zone Highlights

Riverglades alone reportedly covers roughly the mid-30s through mid-40s level range with more than 150 quests — a real, dense stretch of the leveling journey concentrated in one new zone. See our full New Zones guide for the other three launch zones.

Tips & Tricks

Don’t treat dungeons as a repeatable grinding spot anymore. Clear each one thoroughly on your first visit for its quest rewards, then move back to open-world questing rather than farming the same instance repeatedly.

Budget real time for Riverglades specifically. With 150+ quests packed into roughly ten levels, it’s likely to be one of the more content-dense stretches of the entire leveling path.

Don’t assume your old vanilla leveling route is still optimal. With quest rewards shifting and new zones added directly into the existing level range, some previously efficient paths may no longer be the fastest way through.
