Patch Classic WoW

Overview

LBRS is the last real stepping stone before raiding — a level 55-60, 5 player dungeon housing Blackhand orcs, forest trolls, ogres, and your first real encounters with black dragonflight servants. It’s also where the entire UBRS key chain lives, so most groups running LBRS have a second objective beyond just clearing bosses.

f your goal is the UBRS key (the Seal of Ascension), you’ll need to run LBRS regardless — three of its bosses drop the gemstones required for that chain. See our full UBRS key guide for the complete walkthrough.

NOTE

LBRS also has a real rare-spawn pool — Burning Felguard, Spirestone Butcher, Spirestone Battle Lord, Spirestone Lord Magus, Bannok Grimaxe, Crystal Fang, and Ghok Bashguud can all appear randomly. None are required for progression, and most groups simply kill whichever happen to be up along their route.

Critical Mechanics

Overlord Wyrmthalak’s knockback

His attack throws players upward with real fall damage attached — don’t fight him near ledges or open drops. At 50% health he calls for reinforcements, so make sure the room is otherwise clear before you commit to the pull.

Mother Smolderweb’s poison stun

Her Mother’s Milk ability stuns affected players until they cleanse it themselves — it doesn’t wear off on its own the way most stuns do. Bring a class that can cleanse poison, or expect that player to sit locked down until someone else handles it.

Quests

LBRS carries a real, faction-specific quest chain layered on top of the UBRS key requirements. Alliance players pick up Put Her Down (kill Halycon) and Maxwell’s Mission (kill Voone, Omokk, and Wyrmthalak) from Marshal Maxwell. Horde players get The Pack Mistress (kill Halycon) from Galamav the Marksman and Warlord’s Command (kill the same three bosses, plus loot Important Blackrock Documents) from Warlord Goretooth — both based out of Kargath in the Badlands.

GOOD TO KNOW

Since these quests and the UBRS key chain both require killing Voone, Omokk, and Wyrmthalak, a single well planned LBRS run can knock out your faction quests and your key progress at the same time. Don’t treat them as separate trips.

Tips & Tricks

Plan your route around the key chain, not just the bosses. Since Voone, Omokk, and Wyrmthalak matter for both quests and the UBRS key, prioritize a route that hits all three efficiently rather than clearing linearly.

Bring poison cleansing for Mother Smolderweb specifically. Her stun doesn’t expire on its own, and a group without a cleanse option will simply lose that player’s DPS and healing for an uncomfortably long stretch.

Don’t fight Wyrmthalak near ledges. His knockback plus fall damage has ended more attempts than the fight’s actual difficulty would suggest.

Decide on rare spawns as you go, not in advance. They’re random, optional, and not worth planning your whole route around — just take them if they happen to be up.
