Overview
The
Staff of Prehistoria isn’t a boss drop — it’s an item you build from two separate pieces, then use to summon an otherwiseinaccessible boss, Ironaya. This is one of the more distinctive item chains in Classic, ending in a fight that simply doesn’t exist unless you go through the process first.
Gathering the Two Pieces
These two pieces come from completely different parts of the dungeon — the chest near Baelog and Revelosh himself aren’t near each other. Plan your route so you pick up both without unnecessary backtracking.
Assembling the Staff
With both the
Gni’kiv Medallion and
The Shaft of Tsol in your inventory, combine them to create the
Staff of Prehistoria. This is a straightforward crafting step — no additional materials or skill requirements involved.
Summoning Ironaya
Carry the finished
Staff of Prehistoria to the Map Chamber, the room housing a miniature model of the dungeon. Use the Staff there, and it summons Ironaya — a boss that otherwise has no fixed spawn point at all.
Defeating Ironaya isn’t the end of the objective. Once she’s dead, head into the chamber she emerged from to complete
The Hidden Chamber quest — skipping this step means leaving real content unfinished after already doing all the work to get there.
Tips & Tricks
Pick up both pieces before you commit to fighting Revelosh. There’s no reason to delay the Baelog chest if you’re already heading that direction — grab it early and keep it until Revelosh is down.
Don’t forget the Map Chamber is a deliberate detour. It’s not automatically on your route through the main boss path, so plan for the extra travel time.
Enter the chamber after Ironaya dies, not just the kill itself. The Hidden Chamber quest requires that follow up step, and it’s easy to assume the fight itself was the whole objective.
Treat this as a real bonus objective, not a required stop. If your group is short on time, skipping the Staff chain doesn’t block progress toward Archaedas or any other boss.
