Patch Classic WoW

Overview

Verigan’s Fist is the most recognizable Paladin weapon in Classic’s leveling range — a blue two handed mace dealing 65-99 damage at 3.20 speed, with +7 Stamina, +6 Intellect, and +12 Spirit. It stays your best weapon option from level 20 well into your mid 30s, and the chain to earn it is a real multi zone undertaking, not a quick errand. Named after the dwarven Paladin Bosch Verigan and forged by the blacksmith Jordan Stilwell, it’s widely treated as a rite of passage for leveling Paladins rather than just another quest reward.

GOOD TO KNOW

This chain sends you through four completely different zones and two dungeons — Deadmines, Shadowfang Keep, Loch Modan, and Darkshore. Budget real time for it. This isn’t a side quest you knock out in twenty minutes, and trying to rush it in one sitting usually just means more repeated trips later.

Starting the Chain

Step Action
1 At level 20, speak to Duthorian Rall (Stormwind Cathedral) or Jordan Stilwell (outside Ironforge) to receive the Tome of Valor.
2 Read the Tome, then talk to your quest giver again to continue.
3 Travel to Longshore in southwestern Westfall and speak to Daphne Stilwell.
4 Defend Daphne against several waves of attacking Defias. Soloable at level 20 with care — bringing a friend makes it considerably easier, and you can heal Daphne if she takes damage.
5 Return to Duthorian Rall in Stormwind to learn Sense Undead and receive the Bastion of Stormwind shield.
6 Speak with Jordan Stilwell outside Ironforge to pick up The Test of Righteousness, which sends you after four materials.

Gathering the Four Materials

Material Location Note
Whitestone Oak Lumber The Deadmines Dropped by Goblin Woodcarvers, found in the Shredder room
Jordan’s Smithing Hammer Shadowfang Keep Sitting on a box inside the stables
Jordan’s Refined Ore Shipment Loch Modan Quest reward from “Bailor’s Ore Shipment,” given by Bailor Stonehand in Thelsamar
Purified Kor Gem Blackfathom Deeps Dropped by naga just outside the instance — see the note below before you farm this one

GOOD TO KNOW

Consider waiting until level 22-24 before tackling the Deadmines and Blackfathom Deeps portions specifically. You’ll have a much easier time finding a group at that range than trying to force it at exactly 20.

The Hidden Prerequisite Most Players Miss

NOTE

The Purified Kor Gem will not drop from Blackfathom Deeps naga at all unless you’ve first spoken to Thundris Windweaver in Auberdine, Darkshore, and picked up. Skip this step, and you can farm naga outside the instance indefinitely without ever seeing the item. Get this quest before you go anywhere near Blackfathom Deeps.

Once you have the quest active, the naga outside Blackfathom Deeps will drop a corrupted version of the gem. Return that to Thundris Windweaver, and she’ll hand you the actual Purified Kor Gem you need for Jordan.

Turning It In

Once all four materials are in hand, return to Jordan Stilwell outside Ironforge. He’ll craft Verigan’s Fist on the spot and hand it over, completing the chain.

Tips & Tricks

Get the Kor Gem prerequisite before you farm naga. This is the single most common mistake in the entire chain — players spend real time killing naga outside Blackfathom Deeps with no idea the gem literally cannot drop yet.

Do the Deadmines and Blackfathom Deeps legs alongside a normal group run. Both dungeons are worth running anyway at this level range, so treat the material collection as a bonus objective rather than a dedicated trip, and split the loot conversation with your group ahead of time so nobody’s surprised you need a specific quest drop.

Hold onto quest items until the chain fully resolves. Vendoring or discarding something prematurely because you think you’re done is an easy, avoidable setback.

Don’t force this exactly at level 20 if grouping is hard on your server. A couple of extra levels makes the dungeon legs meaningfully easier to find groups for, and the weapon stays relevant well past 24 anyway.
